Q1 -What is Lightning?



Lightning is a atmospheric discharge of electricity accompanied by thunder. In the atmospheric electrical discharge, a leader of a bolt of lightning can travel at speeds of 60,000 m/s (130,000 mph). Lightning can also reach temperatures at 30,000 C (54,000 F).

  2. During a thunderstorm when liquid and ice particles that are above freezing level collide they make a small electrical field in the clouds. The lighting field keeps building til it is big enough to cause a lighting spark
